According to the Parliament's record, South Shore-St. Margaret MP Gerald Keddy charged that Liberal Senator Mac Harb even wrote a letter to all members of the European Parliament to vote against the Canadian seal hunting industry. Keddy said Harb called Canadians barbaric because of their support for the seal hunt and advised Canada against pursuing international action at the World Trade Organization.
I have a solution. We needn't use the official Olympic event when we have all of Vancouver vying for business. Let's have a massive multi-culturalist-ultra-PC celebration of everything Inuit (as I assume seal products and meat are a constituent part of their heritage). Fashion showcases by Inuit designers, Inuit crafts including sealskin boots and coats, street selling of yummy seal-based food out of giant smoking cauldrons, Newfoundlanders selling seal-hunting tours (strictly shooting only). What a party!

Mac Harb should be removed from the senate immediately.
if he sent it on office/senator letter head or acted as an official of the Canadian Senate then it should be treated as a Criminal case shouldn't it? Isn't he oversteping his authority even engaging in such conversations when he has not been assigned the job or authority... I the USA they have a law that if anyone engages in a communication on behalf of the gov't but is not nesicarily authorised to do so or appointed to by the gov't yet uses their gov't authority to try and infulance forigen policy they can be charge with treason if it goes against what the elected gov't officials and foriegn policy dictates...
He hasn't done anything criminal. Afaik he's a free citizen, free to communicate with everyone and free to use his own letterhead in the communications originating from him.
Not criminal, just wrong.
The actual letter has to be examined but it sounds like a sealer could have an action against the Senator. This would shut him up .
